BNSF GP40M 3018, Page 11
I have finished the paint work. I have put the decals on and given it a final gloss coat. The photos you see below are
what the model looks like now. The model is assembled only for the photo session. You will notice the front left side
frame is on the wrong side. This side frame needs to go on the rear right.
As you can see here I still need to add the fans
and grills. This will be done after the flat clear coat
goes on.
Here you can see I still need to add the rear
cab steps. I'll add them after I glue the hood to
the sill.
On this side I still have to install the
ECAFB. It is painted and ready to go
on.
Yes, I see the hood is skewed.
When it is glued on, it will be
perpendicular to the deck.
Prior to applying the flat clear coat, I will put on the first steps of weathering. A gloss coat is good to get the
weathering to outline the doors and into the nooks and crannies and be able to clean it off the flat surfaces.
I had discovered a great way to hand paint the window gaskets. Unfortunately, the photos I took to write a small
article on it were terrible. When I build my next model, I will write a detailed article on how to do it. You will find it to be
amazingly easy. My sincere apologies for not being able to get that article done right now.
